Pick up Waiting Area after School

Please find the following communication by the school regarding the waiting area for picking up your children after 17:00 (14:00 on Wednesdays).

Dear Colleagues and Parents,

We would like to inform you of some changes that will come about regarding the pickup place of your child when they finish APPS (Garderie) or Periscolaire Activities (APEEE) as from the 4 September 2024.

  1. Pick up of children up to 17.00 will remain as usual. Parents/ authorized persons can go through Loge 2 and wait for their child in the assigned Pick-Up Zone as usual.
     
  2. Place: As from the 4 September 2024, we will have a new Waiting Area accessed from Loge 1 (see photo below) in the school as from 17.00 on every day except Wednesday, when it opens at 14.00.
     
  3. Entrance: Parents/authorized persons who pick up their children from APPS (Garderie) and Periscolaire after school activities up to now have waited outside the school gate at Loge 1. The change as from 4 September 2024 will be that parents/authorized persons are invited to enter the school through the Nursery Gate at Loge 1 (see picture below) and wait for their child in the Waiting Area.
     
  4. Waiting Area at Loge 1: The Waiting Area at Loge 1 will be inside the school grounds and will be managed by the school. Your children will be accompanied as usual either by the school staff or by the APEEE staff depending on the activity they participate in, and the transfer of children will take place inside the school premises on the bus parking in the designated area.
     
  5. Exit: Parents/authorized persons and children are then invited to leave the school site through the Nursery Gate at Loge 1. 

    Clarification of the location of the new pick up area, through Loge 1

    (Kindly note that any bicycles need to be left outside the school so as not to block the new Waiting Area that will be created. Please ensure that no bicycle blocks and entrance or exit to the school).
     

  6. Access to parents/authorized persons will be solely allowed in the Waiting Area and there can be no further access into the school. Controlled access allows better safety and security for our pupils and staff.
     
  7. A few pupils who attend APPS remain between 18.30 and 18.45. They will now stay in the Athena Building, 0 Floor, Room A05 with two educators. Their parents/authorized persons need to inform the security guard in Loge 1 of their arrival and the security guard will call the educator to accompany the child to the gate. At this time, no entry is allowed into the school for parents/authorized persons.

 

Evaluation of Objective

  • We will evaluate this new system in the first few weeks and if it functions well, we will make the necessary arrangements to continue working in this way.
     
  • The aim of this change is to avoid having a crowd of people outside the school gate on a busy thoroughfare and where bicycles pass continuously. We believe that this system should provide a smoother and safer handover of children.
