InterParents

Joint APEEE's Association

InterParents (IP) regroups representatives from all the European School Parents’ Associations. They are a non-profit organisation based in Luxemburg, managed by volunteer parents from the European Schools.

Their mission is to represent parents on all aspects of governance of the European School Systems. In particular, InterParents’ mission is to represent parents of all students of the European Schools in the Board of Governors of the European Schools, its subsidiary committees and its preparatory working groups1. Notably, InterParents participates in the Joint Teaching Committee (JTC) and the Budgetary Committee as well as the Board of Directors, the decision-making bodies for the European Schools System.

InterParents is heavily involved with the preparation and review of the European Baccalaureate (BAC), and provides support for BAC-related concerns. InterParents communicates regularly with families of S7 students on the subject through the APEEE’s.

APEEE Ixelles Board members may join InterParents on a voluntary basis, to a maximum of 4 representatives.

OSG Bodies

The Office of the Secretary-General (OSG) of the European Schools oversees their management.

The Board of Governors is composed of the Heads of EU delegations appointed by the Ministers of Education of each of the EU countries, together with representatives of the European Commission, the teachers and InterParents as a representative of the Parents’ Associations of every European School. The Board of Governors is chaired by the Secretary-General.

The mandate of the Board of Governors covers the educational, administrative, and financial matters of the European Schools. They meet twice a year.

The JTC regroups representatives the Directors from each European School, as well as representatives from the European Commission, the teachers, the Deputy Directors, the students, and InterParents as a representative of the Parents’ Associations of every European School. The JTC is chaired by the inspectors from the Board of Inspectors.

The JTC is a preparatory committee, concerned with the overall educational matters of the European Schools. They meet twice a year.

The Budgetary Committee is composed of one to two representatives from each member of the Board of Governors, as well as the chairs of the JTC and representatives of the Directors of the European Schools, the staff of the European Schools, and other representatives as advisors. They are chaired by the Member State currently holding the Presidency of the Board of Governors.

The Budgetary Committee manages the overall financial and budgetary aspects of the European Schools and oversees the individual Schools’ implementations of their budget. They meet twice a year.
