APEEE Transport - The COVID-19 tracing and notification protocol explained

Dear parents,

We would like to remind you that APEEE put in place on 18 March 2021 a COVID-19 tracing and notification protocol in transport, following the updated COVID-19 measures issued by the Federation Wallonie Bruxelles and Sciensano and the school’s “Protocol for the Management of COVID-19 cases at school” (cf Communication of 26 February 2021).

According to the new protocol, for every pupil testing positive for COVID-19, the following actions are taken in transport (tracing period: at least 2 days before the onset of symptoms or before the sample was taken for asymptomatic cases; in case of doubt, the last two days prior to the last day of school presence).

  1. A general letter of vigilance is sent to the parents of all pupils enrolled in the bus lines that were used by the pupil.
  2. An identification of all pupils sitting within a high-risk zone on the school bus (comprising pupils sitting up to 2 seats away in any direction) is carried out.
  3. Individual notifications are sent to the parents of those pupils identified as sitting in the high-risk zone.

The School Management has informed the APEEE that each pupil, who is placed in a high risk zone (on a school bus) by the APEEE, will also be placed in quarantine by the school. This covers a period of 10 days since the last contact and entails the usual testing requirements.

Please note that the tracing on the school buses is conducted on the basis of the fixed seating plans that have been prepared by the bus monitors for each bus line. Those plans will be updated in the week of 19/4. The seating plans will be followed scrupulously for the purpose of COVID-19 tracing and no changes will be accepted for any reason.
