Canteen update - Reopening on 26/04/2021

Dear parents,

We are happy to confirm that the canteen will reopen for primary pupils on Monday 26 April and we will be able to serve warm meals again. Our APEEE together with the school established a sanitary protocol to ensure hygiene and safety for pupils, school staff and canteen personnel. New enrolments for the canteen are possible via MyAPEEE by Thursday each week, to be applicable from Monday of the following week. Please be aware, that the canteen may be closed again at any time in the future, if required by the sanitary situation.

Following rules and measures must be strictly observed by all classes:

  • Dedicated points of entry and exit. Use of other entries/exits is forbidden.
  • Distancing of min. 1,5m between “class bubbles” at all times.
  • Proper hand hygiene before and after the lunch. School supervisors will ensure that all pupils disinfect their hands at the table.
  • All available windows and doors will be left open to ensure proper ventilation. Pupils need to dress sufficiently on days of cold weather.
  • Fixed tables and fixed individual seating plan for tracing purposes. Pupils are not allowed to leave the table, unless absolutely necessary. Pupils are not allowed to change their seat at the table.
  • Canteen food will be served individually by the table service staff, incl. second helpings.
  • It will not be possible to reheat the packed lunch for “tartinistes” and they will not be allowed to use the microwaves.
  • Salad / soup bars and milk fountains will not be available to avoid circulation.
  • Pupils will receive a glass of water, but no refilling will be possible. If pupils need more water, they need to bring their own bottles.
  • Pupils are requested not to clean the plates and not to collect the dishes after the lunch, to avoid circulation and contacts.
  • Class supervisors will be wearing facemasks during the whole lunchtime.

Special arrangements:

  • Pupils registered in the canteen and receiving educational support or extra lessons during lunchtime will receive a cold lunch box. The lunch box will be delivered in the respective classroom indicated by the school.
  • Vegetarian lunch will be available only as a cold lunch box and as the default option for the whole enrolment period. Pupils need to collect the vegetarian lunch box in the canteen office. To opt for vegetarian lunch, parents need to contact the canteen office via email. The same Thursday deadline applies as for standard enrolment.
  • APEEE will adopt and communicate separate rules for the canteen use on Wednesday.
  • In case of renewed canteen closures in the future, parents can cancel their enrolment from the 1st day of the following month. No administrative fee will be charged.

Kind regards,

The APEEE Ixelles Canteen
