Enrolments for European Schools

Enrolments for the 2019/20 school year are open from 14 January 2019.

Parents in post on 31 December 2018 - submission of the application during the first phase (14 January - 1 February 2019) is mandatory.

Parents taking up their posts as from 1 January 2019 can submit the application during the first or second phase.

Pupils are admitted to the nursery school at the beginning of the school year in the calendar year in which the child reaches four years of age (i.e. for the 2019/2020 year, the children born in 2015).

Pupils are admitted to primary year 1 at the beginning of the school year in the calendar year in which the child reaches six years of age (i.e. for the 2019/2020 year, the children born in 2013).

Children who attend the school during the 2018/2019 school year will be enrolled automatically for the 2019/2020 school year.

Children in the final year of the Nursery and who meet the age requirement will be enrolled automatically into the first year of the primary school.

The enrolment forms (in English, French or German) – with all the documents required – must be handed in or sent by post (regular mail, registered letter or express mail) to the secretariat of the school corresponding to the first preference specified on the enrolment form.

It is important to note that the European Schools are not international schools where parents can choose the language in which their children are educated. A fundamental principle of the European Schools is the teaching of mother tongue/dominant language as first language. This principle implies the pupil's enrolment in the section of his/her mother tongue/dominant language where such a section exists.

Information meeting on Friday 11

Every year in January, the Parents' Association of the Crèches and Afterschool Childcare (AdP) organises an information meeting on the transition from crèche to school. The Representatives of the administration of the European Schools and the presidents of the Parents' Associations are present to reply to questions on issues such as choice of school and  language section, available places, procedures, etc.

This year, the meeting will take place on Friday 11 January 2019 from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm, at CCAB-Borschette Centre (Rooms 0A+0D).
